Music Therapist

Reports to: Director of Support Services

 

Job Summary:

Provide for planned, stematic application of music as a therapeutic intervention for the terminally ill patient and family, geriatric, adult and adolescent patient as deemed appropriate by members of the care team.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides educational information to members of the care team in order to facilitate referrals and promote the utilization of music therapy as an intervention
  • Seek feedback from the care team regarding the efficiency of the intervention and utilize this information to make appropriate modifications and plans for ongoing services
  • Provide music therapy services for designated caseload of patients
  • Develop appropriate therapeutic interventions and plan of care
  • Evaluate and assess services and documents as appropriate in electronic health record (EHR)
  • Maintain statistics related to services provided
  • Provide information to manager regarding program development and direction
  • Develop and participate in meaningful research activities
  • Serve as an active participant in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of appropriate HIPAA and confidentiality
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Able to work as both a part of a team and independently
  • Possesses great organizational Skills
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products i.e. Excel, Word, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Music Therapy required
  • Current board certification as a Music Therapist
  • Minimum of 2 year music therapy experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to regularly lift and move up to 20lbs
  • May have prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Personal protective equipment provided, including masks
