Staff Accountant

Job Description

Reports to: President    

Schedule: Hybrid, Part Time, Flexible Hours

Department: Finance

 

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track Minnesota Hospice financial activities to include but not limited to company budget, QuickBooks and general ledger.   

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs general accounting and other related duties for Minnesota Hospice
  • Prepare monthly balance sheets and income statements
  • Maintains the general ledger
  • Codes invoices, set up new accounts reconciles account and closes the monthly books
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies depostis and addresses inquiries as required
  • Manages accounts receivable and payable
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to appropriate accounts
  • Assist in filing tax forms with federal, state and local government agencies
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Knowledge of general accounting
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
  • Possesses great organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products i.e. Excel, Word, etc.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to regularly lift and move up to 20lbs
  • May have prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Personal protective equipment provided, including masks
